Daredevil’s inclusion in the 1990 eight-backs lineup was a bit of a surprise pick for
younger collectors — he wasn’t a household name the way Spider-Man or Captain America were
at the time. But for fans of the comics, seeing the Man Without Fear on a gray cardback
alongside Marvel’s heavy hitters was a genuine thrill.
The figure came with Daredevil’s billy club, which on some versions included a grappling
hook-and-string feature — a small cord that let the club “swing” from a hook, playing up
the character’s acrobatic street-level style. It’s a bit fiddly but adds a lot of play value
that a static accessory wouldn’t have.
The red costume is rendered cleanly, with the double-D logo on the chest clearly visible.
The sculpt has a slightly leaner build than the beefier characters in the wave, which is
appropriate — DD is an acrobat first and a brawler second. A quieter, underrated entry in
a lineup that could have been nothing but A-listers.
