Doctor Doom
TB-MSH-S1-003
Including Doctor Doom in the very first wave of Marvel Super Heroes figures was a statement:
Toy Biz wasn’t just making heroes, they were building a universe. Doom arrived with his
signature green-and-gray armor, flowing cape, and masked scowl — unmistakable on the peg
and an instant nemesis for anyone who also picked up Mister Fantastic or the Fantastic Four
figures in later waves.
He came with a small blaster accessory — a cosmic-energy weapon in keeping with Doom’s
sorcerer-scientist aesthetic — and the sculpted detail on his armor reads well at this
scale. The metallic gray chest plate and the subtle green of his tunic are nicely rendered
for a figure in the sub-$5 range.
What made Doom genuinely exciting in this lineup is how rare it was to see a villain anchor
a first wave. He wasn’t a sidekick or a secondary character; he was the Latverian monarch
himself, front and center on the card back alongside Cap and Spidey. A great villain figure
from one of Marvel’s best villains.
