By Series 3, Spider-Man was appearing in every wave — and Toy Biz kept finding new
gimmicks to differentiate each version. The enemy tracking tracer is the most gadget-
focused of the bunch: a separate handheld device accessory that the figure holds, playing
up the tech-savvy side of Peter Parker’s character rather than the acrobatic web-slinger
angle of the previous releases.
The figure itself is a fairly standard red-and-blue Spidey sculpt in a standing action
pose, with the articulation points standard for the line. The tracer accessory is the
draw — it reads as a believable bit of Parker tech and gives kids something to interact
with beyond just posing the figure.
For collectors tracking every Spider-Man variant in the run, this is a necessary entry.
For everyone else, it’s a solid if unremarkable Spidey that earns its place through the
accessory concept alone.
