Thing
TB-MSH-S3-4832
The Thing was the logical centerpiece of Toy Biz’s Fantastic Four wave — the character
most built for action figure translation, all craggy orange rock and barely contained
strength. The Series 3 version leans into that with a pulverizing punch action: squeeze
the legs together and one arm swings upward in a haymaker motion, ready to clobber
whatever’s in front of him.
The sculpt does the character justice — the rocky hide is rendered with genuine texture,
the proportions are wide and powerful without looking misshapen, and the blue shorts
read clearly as Ben Grimm’s signature look. The action
feature is well-integrated; the figure doesn’t look like it was designed around a gimmick,
which isn’t always the case in this line.
With Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and Human Torch all in the same wave, Thing completes
the full Fantastic Four roster in Series 3. It’s a milestone for the line — the first time
all four team members were available simultaneously — and Thing is the strongest figure of
the four.
